On points: that's exactly what I meant. Did I express myself inaccurately?
Well, yes. you said 5 categories make 5 max points for every post. By what you said it looks like a post can only get 5 points in total  nevermind.
Yes, rebuttals are allowed in the 2nd and the 3rd posts.
The question was, can statements of the first post of prop be rebutted in the 2nd post of opp? There's nothing about that in the rules. I mean, posts go like this:
Prop 1st - no rebuttals
Opp 1st - no rebuttals
Prop 2nd - rebuttals allowed
Opp 2nd - rebuttals allowed *
...

* Can a statement made in Prop 1st post be rebutted in Opp 2nd? Opposition can't rebut anything in their 1st post, but does that mean that they can't rebut any of the statements made in Prop 1st post? I think they can rebut whatever they like :)
Hrrrr

Žinutė #122

This question never occured to me because I was sure rebuttals are not restricted to rebutting only the previous post. Yes, sure they can rebutt.

Žinutė #124

The question about rebuttals has not really been mine. Arwe asked me about this, and I just wanted a clarification from you. And... it was a silly mistake: of course I wanted to ask exactly as Elfhilde has shown it. Thanks for clarifications!

Žinutė #125

Else one question.. What about closing statement? Should it be posted by one of three debators or another person?

Žinutė #126

One of the debators. The captain would be a perfect choice, I think, but it doesn't make any difference.

Žinutė #127

Thanks for the clarifications, everyone!

Just to be clear, I'd be operating from the: "Each main post is worth 25 points" standpoint.

Starlin, no need to feel shy about making suggestions, they -are- your rules, after all. ;) I'd suggest that each of the "Team Strategy" and whatnot be graded on a 5-point scale as well. That way they'll offer a wide enough range and not be weighted more than the main posts.[/code]

Žinutė #130

Should this be limited? I don't know. We have two. I think that if you have three, it is no crime.

Oh, one more thing: ok, you'll be hosting us for the first debate But let's remember that we have different codes (here we use BBCode and some HTML), so we won't be able to check the coding for our posts when we are the visiting team. I will make a list of your codes for our team, I suggest you do the same for yours. It's not difficult, basically you use the capitals where we use non-capitals. But still, the posts will have to be thoroughly checked becaus no editing is permitted. Or maybe we could open some test-thread in each forum? We could just post our message, see if everything is okey, then edit it and erase he message so that another team doesn't see it. Just for checking. What do you think?
And i have made a special thread to do this!

Oh, finally. BTW, it's your post that is due in the next 48 hours, so we've got more time.

Žinutė #139

One question to the Latvians... What is your time zone? I got confuzed because few minutes ago I checked the debate thread and it said that your post has been posted at midnight. When I went to check the time, it showed 17.00. But my time was 16.00. Lithuania is in GMT+2 zone. According to your forum's clock, you are in GMT + 3 :?:

Žinutė #140

I also wondered because I noticed that in this forum I had GMT+3 so I changed it to GMT+2 for the sake of clarity. Lithuania is definitely GMT+2, but, forgive my ignorance (time zones have never been my strong side), maybe it has something to do with the daylight savings?
